El inusual trío Electrik Consort formado por Guillermo Cides, compartira el cartel del dia Viernes 15 de Septiembre con el reconocido Trilok Gurtu, considerado el creador de las "Nuevas Músicas". Ambos grupos serán el plato fuerte de ese día durante el Festival de Músicas Avanzadas en Jerez de la Frontera, España.
Hay artistas que innovan continuamente en la música y la organización del Festival de Musicas Avanzadas parece haberlos juntado para incluirlos en su programación del cartel de este año.
Trilok Gurtu, un maestro de la musica hindú, tablas y las percusiones, es también un visionario compositor cuyas aventuras musicales lo llevaron a fusionarse con el jazz, el rock, lo clásico y lo étnico de todo el mundo. Reconocido por sus colaboraciones con Don Cherry, John McLaughlin, Joe Zawinul, Pat Metheny y la world/jazz fusion band Oregon, Trolik Gurtu es un claro ejemplo de la musica sin fronteras y la mezcla de culturas hecha con calidad.
Electrik Consort es una demostración de como es posible llevar la musica mas allá de lo establecido, lograr un equilibrio instrumental y por momentos riesgoso mezclando instrumentos que nunca antes habian formado parte de un grupo. De esta manera, la antiquisima Zanfona del siglo XIV de Adriá Grandia se mezcla con el moderno Stick de Guillermo Cides y las percusiones electro-étnicas de Nan Mercader (reconocido por sus colaboraciones con Serrat, Carles Benavent, Tete Montoliú). Desde obras antiguas a Led Zeppellin, desde Piazzolla a composiciones instrumentales actuales, todo es realidad en el mundo de Electrik Consort.
Al parecer otra musica es posible y eso demostraran los artistas en el Festival de Nuevas Musicas 2006.

The unusual trio Electrik Consort, formed by Guillermo Cides will share the cartel of Friday, the 15th of September with the recognized Trilok Gurtu, considered the creator of "New Music". Both groups will be the strong offering of that day during the Festival de Músicas Avanzadas, Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
There are artists that continuously innovate in music and the organization of the Festival de Músicas Avanzadas has included them in their programming of the cartel this year.
Trilok Gurtu is a master of Indian music, tabla, percussion, and Western drumming. He is also a visionary composer whose musical adventurousness has led him to creative fusions of Indian music with jazz, rock, classical, and ethnic music from all over the world. Well known in the jazz community through his collaborations with Don Cherry, John McLaughlin, Joe Zawinul, Pat Metheny, and the world/jazz fusion band Oregon, Trolik Gurtu is a real example of music without frontiers and the mix of cultures and quality.
Electrik Consort is a demonstration of how it is possible to take music beyond the established thing, to obtain a risky instrumental balance that mixes instruments that have never before been members of a group. Electrik Consort blends the ancient Zanfona of the XIV Century of Adriá Grandia with the modern Stick of Guillermo Cides and the electro-ethnic percussions of Nan Mercader (recognized by his collaborations with Serrat, Carles Benavent, Tete Montoliú). From old compositions to Led Zeppellin, from Piazzolla to present instrumental compositions, all is reality in the world of Electrik Consort.
Another music is possible, and that is what these artists will demonstrate in the Festival de Nuevas Musicas 2006.
